Letter: Supreme Court nominee and Americans' complaints

In this great country, we have everything we need. We have water, food, space to live. No attacks other than from our neglected nature. We are so lucky to have had in the past and even present wise men and women who saw to it that we are well taken care of.

And yet some people constantly hatefully complain, don't want to share and fear someone might be taking something away from them, not realizing that we might eventually wind up in the same dire situations and need help. We should be grateful that these wise presidents in the past saw to it that we have Social Security, a social Medicare system and until now a pretty well-run school system. Most certainly, these deniers of a social democracy do not need the benefits of Social Security or any other intelligent social governmental mandate. They have sufficient money and time to participate in attacking the government.

Yes, we have everything we need, except for another outstanding Supreme Court Judge. Unfortunately, we just had two very embarrassing days of a sad spectacle when a group of hateful, childish and incredibly incompetent and self-important senators, totally unqualified to be senators, asking the most irrelevant, childish and insulting questions of a highly intelligent, patient and composed lady. The questions did not deserve an answer and the explanations provided by Judge Jackson, who is very qualified to be appointed to the Supreme Court, were legally correct and well thought through, but not understood by the interviewing senators.

I watched reporting at one station that I normally do not watch and what I heard was beyond description and horrendously ugly. Yes, we do need better people in the government again and news people who can refrain from publishing ugly thoughts.
