Charges filed over dog attack

The owner of a pit bull-mix dog faces multiple charges after the dog attacked and killed another dog that was on a leash in Elgin, police say.

Elgin police were called to the 300 block of Joslyn Drive on March 24 for a report of a dog that had been attacked by another dog, police said in a news release.

Animal control canvassed the area and were able to find the dog and its owner, who live in the 300 block of Waverly Court. The owner, a 19-year-old woman, was charged with dog at large, biting and attacking and vicious behavior. She's expected in court at 9 a.m. May 4.
