Police searching for shooter in Elgin

Elgin police are searching for a person who shot someone Tuesday afternoon at Larkin and Edison avenues.

The shooting took place at 3:59 p.m., and the shooter fled on foot, Elgin police spokeswoman Kristie Hilton said. The victim was taken to the hospital.

Hilton said gang unit investigators were on the scene but had nothing more to report.

Hilton said anyone with information on the crime should call (847) 289-2503 or send a text message to 847-411 and include "ELGINPD" at the beginning of the message along with any information they have.
