Maine West High School is excited to present their annual variety show on October 27th at 5pm and October 28th and 29th at 7pm at the Maine West Auditorium.
Tickets are $7 for students and $10 for adults and may be purchased online at www.mainewestdrama.org. Tickets will also be sold in-person at the Maine West Bookstore and at the door!
Come experience the amazing array of talents at Maine West, including magic acts, live bands, cultural dances, vocal acts and our very own Orchestra Pit!
David Harmon, one of this year's co-directors, says that students have been working tirelessly over the past month perfecting their individual acts.
"Auditions can be intimidating for students who aren't used to performing on stage; that's why this year students had the option to come to their audition with a concept, rather than a final product. I think it helped get more students involved."
With more than 20 acts, this year's lineup is one of the biggest in years.
"We want "West's Got Talent" to be an all-school event, one that features ALL of our students; not just the actors and musicians that are used to being onstage," says Harmon. "West is an inclusive community with a rich diversity of cultures and traditions, we want to make sure our talent show reflects that."
Maine West's LatinX Club and Indian dance group Desi Dhamaka are among several cultural groups participating this year.
Sharon Thomas (Sr.) says "it's rewarding to show the audience different aspects of Indian dance by presenting Bollywood, Classical, and Bhangra which are types of dances within the Indian community. I enjoy connecting with all the students performing and also having fun presenting our group's hard work to our fellow classmates."
"West's Got Talent" is one of the most highly anticipated events of the season and is appropriate for audiences young and young at heart!
"Join us for an entertaining evening and witness the array of amazing talent we have at West!"
