Side Street Studio Arts opens call for 2017 Battle of the Bands
Side Street Studio Arts, in conjunction with Fat Cat Custom Guitars & Repair, Hope for the Day, and Rediscover Records, is excited to announce the open call for the 2017 Battle of the Bands.
The fourth annual summer-long event will allow artists a freedom of expression and is designed to build support for the local music scene. Bands from all over the area share space, creativity, and audiences during this un-juried competition.
Side Street is currently looking for 16 bands to fill the bracketed competition. The battles will begin Saturday, May 20, at Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Court in downtown Elgin.
It will culminate with the Final Battle between two bands on Saturday, Aug. 12.
The winner will receive more than $2,000 in prizes, including $1,000 cash, additional performance opportunities, and more.

Side Street Studio Arts was founded in 2013 by Melvin and Erin Rehberg as an outlet for the Elgin arts scene. Currently under the direction of Amanda Harris, Roberto Martinez, Melvin, and Rehberg, Side Street's provides educational and creative resources and an accessible space, run by artists. Side Street's mission is to support the artist and artistic journey through collaboration.
