Girls water polo: Hersey, Prospect win MSL crossovers
Katie Lindgren had 3 goals and Andie Dougherty had a pair to help host Hersey past Fremd 5-4 on Wednesday in a Mid-Suburban League girls water polo divisional crossover.
Hersey (9-1) got all its scoring in the first three quarters.
Senior Emily Kini had all the goals for Fremd (3-8) - 2 in the second quarter, 1 in the third and 1 in the fourth.
Prospect 9, Conant 5: The host Knights got 4 goals from Gracie Dix and 3 from Colleen Doyle to put together an impressive win.
The MSL East's leader improved to 9-3, while Conant, currently second in the MSL West race, slipped to 6-3.
Nia Tsoulos, Olivie Olszewski, Lea Cejvan and Christina Chase had goals for the Cougars, and senior goalie Cam Rosas stopped 17 shots.
Barrington 10, Meadows 6: Andrea Potgieter (5 goals) and Courtney Blum and Alyssa Schmidts (2 each) led the scoring as Barrington (8-0) remained unbeaten with a crossover win.
Betsy Zanocco and Maggie Goodwin both had 2 goals for the host Mustangs (4-8).
Maine West 15 , Maine South 11: Kristen Burger scored 8 goals as the Warriors improved to 7-1 with a victory over the Hawks.
Schaumburg 10, Wheeling 5: Kailey Cordova came up with a game-best 4 goals to help visiting Schaumburg net an MSL crossover victory. Hannah Pearson had 3 goals and Sidney Rosenblum 2 for the Saxons (9-4).
Holly Schroeder scored twice for Wheeling (1-9), and keeper Elizabeth Wargo stopped 15 shots.
Buffalo Grove 10, Palatine 2: The host Bison allowed 2 first-period goals to the Pirates, but nothing the rest of the way in claiming a divisional crossover victory.
Dasha Yermol and Sarah Harner were among four players to score 2 goals apiece for BG (6-5).
Harper Appel and Kiki Herbst scored for Palatine (2-12).
