Morton wins third consecutive girls 3A championship

NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - Senior forward Brandi Bisping has scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Morton to its third consecutive girls 3A championship by beating Rochester 44-37.

The second-ranked Potters on Saturday became the fifth team in girls state finals history to win three in a row. No team has won four straight.

Angela Perry led Rochester with 15 points, while Lyric Boone and Aubrey Magro each added 6 points.

The game was close throughout, with Morton leading 16-15 at the half. The Potters went on a 9-0 run and took the lead for good 27-25 on the second Bisping three-pointer in the third period.

Morton played slow-down and drew fouls in the final minutes of the game. The Potters were 10-18 from the foul line, while the Rockets were 2-3.
