Naperville Park District to host Southwest Community Park master plan meeting April 25

On Wednesday, April 25, the Naperville Park District invites residents to a 7 p.m. meeting at Fort Hill Activity Center to review and discuss conceptual plans for its last, large-scale undeveloped park - Southwest Community Park.

The meeting will begin with a presentation of a preliminary concept for the park based on community input gathered earlier this spring.

Residents will have the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions about the plans.

The April 25 meeting is part of the Naperville Park District's public engagement process in developing a master plan for 33-acre Southwest Community Park, 3252 Wolf's Crossing Road.

As a first step in the process, the park district hosted a public meeting on March 1, with more than 40 people in attendance. Attendees were asked to name and prioritize recreational features that they desire at the park. Additional feedback came from email correspondence following the meeting and from meetings with representatives from interested community groups.

Community engagement will continue after the April 25 meeting with a week-long comment period.

Those who wish to share their ideas and were unable to attend the April 25 meeting may email their comments to eshutes@napervilleparks.org through May 2.

Following further review and development of the master plan concepts by the park district's staff and consultants, a draft master plan will be presented to the board of commissioners for discussion at a board meeting in May or June. A completed master plan will be brought to the board for approval in summer 2018.

The master plan will guide the park district in future development of the park, which most likely will span multiple years, depending on needs, costs and funding.

Fort Hill Activity Center is located at 20 Fort Hill Drive. The April 25 meeting will take place on the first floor in the multi-purpose rooms.
