Police: Indianapolis girl hit in leg by gunshot in home
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis police say a 13-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to the leg when someone opened fire outside her family's house.
Police spokesman Capt. Richard Riddle says shots were fired about 4:30 a.m. Saturday outside the house and some entered the home, hitting the teen.
She suffered a wound to the upper thigh and was treated at a hospital and released.
Riddle says the teen's mother told officers she believes the shooter was her ex-boyfriend, but he has not been charged and is not in custody.
Riddle says the man's name won't be released unless police can link him to the shooting.
A man drove away from the house after the shooting and WXIN-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1sKiV4Q ) authorities believe he's headed to Hammond, in northwestern Indiana.
