Sunday Night Baseball a big deal? Cubs suggest one benefit

Before Sunday's evening game at Wrigley Field, there was a question about whether playing Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN, typically the only game being played at that time, was still a big deal.

Cubs catcher Willson Contreras and manager David Ross both suggested one silver lining.

"We play a lot of day games at Wrigley Field and we love to play day games," Contreras said. "At the same time, playing a night game is really good. Helps us sleep a lot."

Added Ross, who spent some of his retirement years in the broadcast booth, "It's a typical day and every game's on TV. So I don't know how it could be a distraction. There's not extra media around because of COVID.

"Maybe it used to be a little bit more of a big deal. Now it just seems like it's kind of a bonus. After a day game on Saturday, you get to sleep in on Sunday."
