Fire near Rosemont extinguished

Rosemont Public Safety Department firefighters extinguished a fire Monday night in a light industrial building south of where construction of The Pearl mixed use district is taking place.

Units responded about 7:45 p.m. to 9739 Farragut St., located south of Balmoral Avenue and west of the Tri-State Tollway, where they observed flames and smoke. After putting out the fire, the scene was eventually turned over to the Chicago Fire Department, since the property is within Chicago's jurisdictional boundaries. One officer was taken to the hospital for a nonlife threatening injury.

Rosemont authorities said Wednesday they are working with Chicago to investigate the cause of the fire.
