Plant sledges in Cuba Marsh with Barrington Greenway Initiative
The Barrington Greenway Initiative is looking for volunteers to help plant sedges at Cuba Marsh from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9.
All ages and levels of experience are welcome at the event, which is part of Barrington Greenway Initiative's Explore and Restore series. Work alongside experienced volunteer stewards and staff from Citizens for Conservation, Audubon Great Lakes, Friends of the Forest Preserves, Forest Preserves of Cook County, and Lake County Forest Preserves.
Meet in the main parking lot at the Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve, 24205 W. Cuba Road, Deer Park. Wear shoes you won't mind getting in the muck, and bring work gloves and a trowel if you have them.
For information, call Citizens for Conservation at (847) 382-7283.
Barrington Greenway Initiative is a long-term plan, created and led by Citizens for Conservation, to expand and link fragmented natural habitats, increase biodiversity and advance ecosystems in the greater Barrington community from approximately Poplar Creek north to Roberts Road. This partnership between Citizens for Conservation and other conservation groups and volunteers will link more than 14,000 acres of prairies, wetlands and forest preserves for conservation success and benefits to area residents.
