Letter: Voters should not have to declare party

I am a senior citizen. A lot of people my age feel the same way about primaries.

WHY do we have to declare our party in the primary? Many of us are Independent & do not want to declare one way or the other at this time. Therefore we do not vote in the primaries.

Not all states are like Illinois. I wish they would change the voting rules.
