Criticism off base
Regarding the letter from Michael Fanella May 7 criticizing Walter E. Williams:
This missive contains so many mistakes it's hard to tell where to begin.
First of all, Prof. Williams holds bachelor's and master's degrees and a doctorate from UCLA in economics. That kind of dwarfs the writer's bachelor's degree.
I don't know where he sees the "never ending police shootings" but it's possible he's been watching too many TV police shows. Watch "Live PD" and see what police have to put up with every day.
And, the media criticize things they would or more likely could never do.
Back in the '60s, some people crucified police officers calling them pigs, scum and worse when the they were trying to stop the rabble rousers destroying property when protesting the Vietnamese war.
Then a bumper sticker appeared that silenced the liberals. It simply said, "If you hate cops, the next time you're in trouble, call a hippie."
People actually thought of the wisdom of the sticker and realized that without the police, chaos would ensue.
