Man shot in Elmhurst robbery attempt

One person was shot Thursday afternoon in an armed robbery attempt in an Elmhurst apartment complex parking lot.

A 27-year-old man was shot in the hip at 1 p.m. outside the complex on the 200 block of East First Street, Elmhurst police said.

The robbers - described as four black or Hispanic men - fled east in a green Buick LaCrosse, police said.

The victim was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with nonlife-threatening injuries.
