Letter: What we're not told about climate change

Regarding "When it comes to climate, advocate for what you value" I see a noble gesture regarding what was stated. When it comes to climate change. what we're being told is important but just as important and maybe even more so is what we're not being told.

For example, the world's poor need growing amounts of reliable and affordable energy, and the use of renewables to provide it are either too expensive or unreliable or both.

If climate change is written in stone by the models that predict it, why is it these same models cannot accurately predict the past? Humans live in a variety of climates and to do so has required they adapt to those climates and going forward will require humans to continue to adapt.

What I'd recommend to the two young ladies who penned this article is to read "Unsettled" by Steven E. Koonin. After reading "Unsettled," maybe the writers could provide an update on their beliefs concerning climate change that the Daily Herald would hopefully publish.

For reference, Steven E. Koonin is an American theoretical physicist and former director of the Center for Urban Science and Progress at NYU. He is also a professor in the Department of Civil and Urban Engineering at NYU's Tandon School of Engineering. From 2004 to 2009, Koonin was employed by BP PLC as the oil and gas company's chief scientist. From 2009 to 2011, he was Undersecretary for Science, Department of Energy, in the Obama administration.
