Girls water polo: Conant nets MSL West championship

Conant secured up an outright Mid-Suburban West championship in girls water polo by topping Hoffman Estates 11-1 on Monday.

Paulina Chowaniec (3 goals) and Aly Wooley (2) led the way for Conant (15-7 9-1), which will represent the West in next week's MSL championship game against Prospect.

• Gracie Dix (4 goals) and Ann Fulk (2) led the way as Prospect completed a perfect run against MSL East competition with a 10-3 victory over Elk Grove.

The Knights (20-5, 10-0) got 6 saves from Mary Clare McAleer.

Alyssa Bonilla scored twice for Elk Grove (10-11, 3-7).

• Andrea Potgieter (4 goals) and Nicole Runtz (3) led the way as Barrington completed MSL West play with an 11-3 victory over host Palatine. The Pirates (4-22, 2-8) got 11 saves in goal from Meghan Woell, and she also scored once.

Alyssa Hawe stopped 3 shots for the Fillies (16-5, 8-2).

• Anastaysia Sahayda, Gavy Fragale and Kristen Burger each had 2 goals to help the Maine West top Highland Park 8-1. That gives the Warriors (20-3, 5-0) an unbeaten run through the Central Suburban North for an outright divisional championship.

• Schaumburg wrapped up a third-place finish in the MSL West by topping Fremd 5-4.

Sidney Rosenblum scored twice for the Saxons (15-7, 6-4) as neither team scored in the fourth quarter. Meghan Helsdingen had a pair of goals for Fremd (8-14, 5-5).

• Meghan Pfeiffer and Madison Burkhalter had a pair of goals to help the Huskies past Wheeling 7-4 for an 8-2 second-place finish in the MSL East.

Emily Van Grinsven had 4 saves for Hersey (18-2 overall).

Talia Kahn scored twice for the Wildcats (4-17, 0-10).

• Rolling Meadows used a 3-1 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter to pull out an 8-5 victory over Buffalo Grove in an MSL East finale. Maggie Goodwin handled the bulk of the scoring for the Mustangs (10-13, 4-6) with 6 goals, and Dasha Yermol paced the Bison (9-12, 5-5) with 3.
