O'Hare hosted 875,136 flight operations last year, a few thousand shy of rival Hartsfield-Jackson's tally of 882,497.

While Hartsfield-Jackson grew operations by 1.6 percent in 2015, O'Hare flights dipped by nearly 1 percent in 2014, when it handled 881,933.

Midway International Airport was busier in 2015, however, with 253,519 operations versus 249,252 in 2014.
