Hoffman Estates Citizen Fire Academy starts Sept. 6

Hoffman Estates is seeking applicants for its 2017 Citizen Fire Academy this fall.

Participants will get the chance to participate in such activities as climbing a 100-foot ladder, seeing the "Jaws of Life" in action and leading firefighters into a burning building.

Classes start Sept. 6 and will meet Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. through Nov. 8.
