Taking the plunge for charity in Lake Zurich
Some suburban residents spent their Saturday morning boldly going where few have gone before, into the chilly waters of Lake Zurich.
They took the icy dip to raise money that will support cancer survivors their families and caregivers through the Purple Plunge charity.
For added levity, many of the plungers came in costume to compete in a contest after jumping in the lake. Because of growing interest in the event, the organizers arranged to get a bigger lakeside tent and filled it with more of the much-needed heaters.
