Traffic tied up after construction accident

Traffic was snarled for about an hour Tuesday afternoon on Arlington Heights Road in Elk Grove Village after a tractor slid off a flatbed during ongoing construction work at the Jane Addams Tollway.

Cars heading northbound were stuck in two lanes of traffic from about 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. while a tow truck lifted the tractor back onto the flatbed. Vehicles exiting eastbound Interstate 90 were prevented from turning left onto Arlington Heights Road, according to witnesses.
