MCC to host career fair
Students in middle school through high school sophomores can explore career options next week at a McHenry County College fair.
The Community Career Exploration Showcase will run 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, in the MCC gym/multi-purpose room and commons area in Building B of the college at 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake.
Representatives of local businesses and MCC's educational programs will demonstrate career possibilities in a variety of industries. Students can get help connecting their passions to specific careers at the "Career Cruising Corner."
The MCC Kids and College program also will host a science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) zone and highlight summer programs for middle and high school students.
Students will hear from professionals in a variety of fields, including manufacturing and engineering/robotics, culinary arts, health care, social assistance, finance, marketing and graphic design.
MCC's educational divisions will highlight such industries as manufacturing and engineering/robotics, culinary arts and hospitality, health professions, public services, and business. Select tours of labs might be available.
Attendees also can learn about dual-credit programs for high school students.
The event is free and open to all ages. It is hosted by MCC in partnership with all McHenry County school districts, the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation and the Workforce Investment Board.
