Letter: Speak out against all bad behavior
While I agree with much of what Susan Estrich wrote in her July 5 column about President Trump, I wondered why she didn't go further and mention Maxine Waters' and Chuck Schumer's (along with others') threatening, very public statements toward Supreme Court justices.
As elected officials, they should also be held to the high standards we should be able to expect from our presidents.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a double standard depending on who is doing the ranting. We seem to be becoming too one-sided depending on our political leanings and while there's little we can do about the public in general we certainly should hold all our elected officials to a much higher standard and call out all who threaten others just because we disagree.
I remember a time when "we could agree to disagree" without the vitriol we are witnessing in today's society. The adults need to start acting like adults and be a good example for the younger generation to follow.
Just maybe it will help to keep people from killing others with whom they disagree if those in authority set better examples and quit throwing tantrums.
