'A-May-Zing Mundelein' moved to Sept. 23
The village of Mundelein and the Mundelein Police Department are once again co-sponsoring A-May-Zing Mundelein's Annual Day of Caring. The event will take place Saturday, Sept. 23, rescheduled from May due to weather.
This annual volunteer spring cleanup event is celebrating its 22nd anniversary. The event was launched as Project CAPE (Create-A-Positive-Environment) and evolved into "A-May-Zing Mundelein."
There is a great need for volunteers this year. The event will kick off at the Mundelein Police Department with registration and a continental breakfast from 8-9 a.m. Volunteers should plan to work through late morning or early afternoon.
Any residents, organizations or businesses that wish to volunteer or donate supplies are asked to call Jenni House at the Mundelein Police Department , (847) 968-3770.
Over the years, A-May-Zing Mundelein's great success has been due to the local residents, organizations and businesses that volunteer their time to complete cleanup projects at the homes of residents in most need of a helping hand.
In 2016, 197 Mundelein residents, including families, Scout troops, churches, local organizations, and businesses, volunteered to make sure A-May-Zing Mundelein was successful.
These volunteers completed 106 spring cleanup projects at 40 locations throughout the village that ranged from yard work and window washing, to home safety inspections.
In addition to the volunteer assistance, several area businesses donated supplies to help complete the projects and provided food and refreshments for volunteers.
