The pension spike
Now that District 211 superintendent Lisa Small has announced her retirement four years from now, she is eligible for the obligatory four years of a 6% annual salary spike allowed by state law. This $60,000-plus salary spike will result in at least a 24% increase in her pension benefits, for which all taxpayers will be on the hook since neither she nor District 211 need to pony up the additional money to fund what this salary/pension spike will actually cost.
