Chicago alderman's office vandalized, 3rd attack in month

CHICAGO (AP) - The office of a Chicago City Council member was vandalized early Thursday in what authorities say is the third attack on his property in less than a month.

Police said officers were called the the office of Alderman Raymond Lopez on the city's Southwest Side at about 5 a.m., where they discovered two windows and a glass on the front door had been shattered, with a brick found at the scene. Police said that nothing was taken from the office.

No injuries were reported and no arrests had been made, police said.

On July 9, two bricks were thrown through windows at his home and a neighbor's garage was set on fire. Ten days later, bricks shattered windows of his office.

Lopez has said that he is being targeted by gangs attempting to intimidate him after he warned the owner of what he called a 'œknown gang building'ť that a city ordinance holds landlords responsible for illegal activities that occur in their buildings.
