Why not route jet noise over forest preserve?

What in the world is wrong with the air traffic controllers at O'Hare airport? Why is it that westerly departures banking to the north use a route that is almost exclusively over the most populated residential areas of Elk Grove Village including the hospital? Have the controllers ever looked at a map? Do they not realize that there is an entire forest preserve and Route 53 expressway corridor only 3,000 feet west of their usual route that would reduce the amount of noise pollution that seems to occur on an endless basis? By flying an additional 10 seconds west before banking north, they could relocate the worst of the noise over the forest preserve and Route 53. Can someone enlighten these controllers about changes reasonable people should expect to reduce the amount of jet noise in residential areas, or is it just their intention to be as vindictive as possible to the residents of Elk Grove Village?
