Fire leaves Hoffman Estates home with $250,000 in damage

A fire left a Hoffman Estates home uninhabitable and caused an estimated $250,000 in damage Saturday, authorities said.

Firefighters were called about 12:22 p.m. to the one-story home on the 400 block of Illinois Boulevard. The first crews to arrive found fire in the rear of the home.

Once the blaze was under control, firefighters searched the home and found no occupants.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal is assisting in the probe.
