Suburban dance teams bound for state

High school dance teams from across the suburbs had a strong showing at sectionals Saturday, with more than 40 squads advancing to the state championships next weekend.

Judges named the top teams in three divisions that will get the chance to perform their synchronized routines at the Illinois High School Association competitive dance finals in Bloomington on Friday. The finalists will take the stage Saturday.

Here's a look at the suburban squads heading to state:

Class 1A: Aurora Central Catholic; Immaculate Conception Catholic, Elmhurst; Lisle Senior; Montini, Lombard

Class 2A: Wauconda; Lake Zurich; Crystal Lake Central; Cary-Grove, Cary; Grant Community, Fox Lake; Crystal Lake South; Libertyville; Vernon Hills; Deerfield; Antioch; Lakes Community, Lake Villa; Grayslake North; Geneva; Fenton, Bensenville; St. Charles North; Batavia; and St. Francis, Wheaton.

Class 3A: Barrington; Huntley; Stevenson, Lincolnshire; South Elgin; Warren Township, Gurnee; Mundelein; Lake Park, Roselle; Glenbard North, Carol Stream; Wheaton Warrenville South, Wheaton; York, Elmhurst; Bartlett; Downers Grove South; Glenbard West, Glen Ellyn; Maine South, Park Ridge; Schaumburg; Prospect, Mount Prospect; Fremd, Palatine; Conant, Hoffman Estates, Neuqua Valley, Naperville; Naperville North; Waubonsie Valley, Aurora; and Naperville Central.
