Geneva police: Sound of nail gun mistaken as gunfire
Geneva police said they determined a report about gunfire Tuesday afternoon to be mistaken.
At 2:12 p.m., a resident on the 200 block of Lineas Lane called 911 to report screaming and yelling, followed by a single gunshot sound, at a neighbor's house, a news release said.
Police said a domestic dispute that produced screaming and yelling did occur inside the neighbor's home, but the sound mistaken as a gunshot was caused by a construction worker using a nail gun nearby.
A heavy police presence responded after the initial 911 call. The news release also said that nearby Heartland Elementary School went on lockdown for 20 minutes at the early stages of the investigation and that police went door to door to make sure neighbors stayed inside.
No arrests were made.
Police said the school's lockdown was lifted at 3 p.m., and normal activity in the neighborhood resumed by 3:24 p.m.
