NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Dozens of supporters of Kenya's opposition coalition have gathered around the Supreme Court building where lawyers are expected to file a petition contesting President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election.
Police said they prevented the supporters from accessing the Supreme Court. Nairobi police chief Japheth Koome said that authorities want to ensure the court building is secure.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga has rejected official results from Kenya's electoral commission, which says Kenyatta won by a margin of roughly 1.4 million votes.
Odinga has claimed, without giving proof, that hackers used the identity of a slain election official to manipulate the result in Kenyatta's favor.
Friday is the deadline for filing court petitions contesting the Aug. 8 election.
