Police standoff ends with person in custody in Elk Grove Village

A person who held police at bay from inside an Elk Grove Village home Tuesday has been taken into custody, according to police department social media accounts.

The standoff on Evergreen Street on the north side of the village, just east of Busse Woods, ended shortly after 3 p.m.

Police first reported the barricade about 2:40 p.m., saying a section of Evergreen from Wildwood Road to Brairwood Lane was blocked and that drivers and pedestrians should avoid the area.

The road was closed until late Tuesday afternoon while police wrapped up operations but it had reopened by the evening, according to police.
