Fire damages deck at North Barrington house
A Tuesday evening fire at a North Barrington home caused an estimated $10,000 in damage to a deck.
Wauconda Fire Protection District officials said they were alerted to the blaze at about 8:20 p.m. by a neighbor of the home on the 0-100 block of Graystone Court.
The fire was discovered under and on the deck of the home by firefighters. The blaze did not extend to the home, officials said.
Fire officials said a security guard who attempted to extinguish the fire was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and released.
Because there was no damage to the house, the residents were able to return to their home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
