Chicago child in serious condition after drive-by shooting

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police say a boy is in serious condition after a drive-by shooting in the city's Englewood neighborhood.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted late Wednesday that a person of interest is in custody.

Police say the boy was with family members on a porch when a vehicle pulled up and a passenger fired at least six shots. It's the second recent shooting at the home, and First Deputy Superintendent John Escalante told reporters "obviously someone at that residence was being targeted."

The child was taken to a hospital, where he is listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the back.

The child is the third to be shot in Englewood since Monday, when two children were shot while playing with sparklers.
