Kutsor, Lake Zurich roll at R-B
Lake Zurich 59, Richmond-Burton 43: Ryan Kutsor had 15 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks, as Lake Zurich's boys basketball team defeated Richmond-Burton 59-43 in the Johnsburg/Richmond-Burton tournament in Richmond on Tuesday night.
Will Tucker hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 points for Lake Zurich (2-0, 2-0 tourney), which also got 10 from JR Cison. Peter DiCerbo missed his second game in a row with a hip-flexor injury.
"R-B is a very well-coached, hardworking team," Bears coach Billy Pitcher said. "We did a great job attacking their 1-2-2 zone press and defending all their screens and actions. I was very impressed and proud of how we executed and how hard we played. Seniors Paul Tauras and Tyler Sarvady came off the bench and really gave us a great lift."
Lake Zurich resumes the tournament Friday with an 11 a.m. start against Wauconda at Richmond-Burton.
Crystal Lake South 62, Wauconda 57: At Richmond-Burton, the Bulldogs lost for the second night in a row.
Connor Brannick scored 18 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, to lead Wauconda. Donovan Carter (two 3s) and Jimmy Ott added 15 and 13, respectively, for the Bulldogs.
Wauconda plays Lake Zurich at 11 a.m. Friday at Richmond-Burton.
Grayslake North 77, Rich Central 69: At Johnsburg, the Knights jumped out to a 30-15 lead after one quarter and held on for their second win in as many nights.
Grayslake North will play host Johnsburg at 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Lakes 46, Johnsburg 45: At Johnsburg, the Eagles overcame a six-point deficit with less than two left in the fourth quarter for their first win of the season.
Lakes (1-1) will take on Rich Central at 11 a.m. Friday at Johnsburg.
Stevenson 70, Tilden 52: At Palatine, Samvit Ram made six 3-pointers and scored 23 points to lead the Patriots in their season opener.
Stevenson plays Waubonsie Valley at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Palatine.
