Aurora Historical Society plans video of Pratt exhibit

A video of the anniversary exhibit commemorating the lives lost and the heroism of the first responders at the Henry Pratt Company on Feb. 15, 2019 is in the works at the Aurora Historical Society.

On Saturday, March 7, from noon until 2 p.m., the society will film various aspects of the exhibit, which has been extended until March 14 due to public interest.

Singer songwriter Bradley Keven Green will perform his song "Aurora Strong" which he wrote last year in response to the shootings. Visitors to the exhibit during that time may be filmed for the purposes of the video.

Visitors will be able to view the five white crosses made by Aurora cross maker Greg Zanis, who built them last year for display at the factory gates and which over the last year have acquired memorabilia left by mourners and well-wishers.

Also on display are some of the cards and posters sent to the Aurora Police Department and visitors may use notecards provided by the city to write personal messages to the families and first responders.

"We have been hearing from people that they would like a memento of the exhibit," according to historical society board president Mary Clark Ormond. "Even though that was a sad day in our history, it is clear that people want to keep this in their hearts for a long time."

The exhibit, which closes March 14, is open Wednesdays-Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. at the Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer Place.
