Black History Family Festival returns to Elgin library
The 11th annual Black History Family Festival, "Hallowed Grounds: Sites of African American Memories," was Saturday afternoon at the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin.
The festival hosted award-winning author and lecturer Glennette Tilley Turner, who presented her nationally recognized Underground Railroad research program.
The festival also featured the Muntu Dance Theatre, a presentation of Future African-American Leaders, Second Baptist Church's Sankofa Wax Museum exhibit honoring local African-American historians, children's crafts and stories and more.
