Unfounded rumors lead to increased police presence at Round Lake school
There was an increased police presence at Grayslake Elementary School District 46's Park Campus in Round Lake Thursday after rumors - which officials determined to be unfounded - that a student was going to do harm at the school.
Superintendent Lynn Glickman said Thursday that school administrators were made aware of the rumors on Wednesday and turned the matter over to Grayslake police. Police interviewed several people, including the subject of the rumor and the students who brought the rumor to the attention of administrators. Police determined there was no threat.
Glickman said she doesn't believe the district will punish the students involved.
"We'll continue working with the students," Glickman said. "But at this time we don't have reason to believe this is a disciplinary matter."
The school district informed parents in an email Thursday morning that there was no danger.
