Man sues, says he's among several framed by same detective

CHICAGO (AP) - A former prison inmate who spent more than two decades behind bars before charges were dropped against him has joined the ranks of men to file wrongful conviction lawsuits that allege they were framed by the same now-retired Chicago police detective.

In a lawsuit filed Monday against the city, Thomas Sierra contends that Reynaldo Guevara improperly steered witnesses to falsely identify him in the 1995 slaying.

In January, a judge tossed out his conviction to make him one of nearly a dozen men to have their convictions in cases linked to Guevara dismissed in less than two years.

The lawsuit a few hours before prosecutors announced they were vacating the conviction in a 1993 murder case of other man - Robert Bouto - who contends Guevara framed him.
