Westminster, Harvest open postseason with wins
The boys basketball teams from Westminster Christian and Harvest Christian won their respective postseason openers Tuesday night.
Westminster Christian 64, Leland co-op 38: In the Class 1A Serena regional, Ben Versluys scored 16 points, Chris King had 14 and Jordan Warrener added 9 to lead the Warriors (20-6) into a Wednesday night semifinal against Mooseheart.
Harvest Christian 77, Lombard College Prep 48: At the Class 2A Aurora Christian regional, Jack Nohava had 15 points and Mark Davila 12 as the Lions (17-8) moved into a Wednesday semifinal. Dylan Lockwood and Payton Kasper added 10 points each for Harvest.
Burlington Central 69, Woodstock 58 (OT): Patrick Mayfield ripped the nets for 27 points to lead the Rockets (24-3, 11-0) to a Kishwaukee River win. Michael Kalusa added 13 points and Zach Schutta had 10 for BC.
CL South 57, Huntley 46: Jonathan Holloway scored 14 points, Matt Reall and Ben Jenkins added 12 each and Jack Murphy 11 to lead Crystal Lake South (11-15, 8-8) to a Fox Valley Conference win. Cory Knipp led Huntley (6-21, 2-13) with 17 points and Ryan Sroka added 11.
Cary-Grove 65, Hampshire 33: Beau Frereicks (16 points), Frank Jakubicek (12) and Luc Bressett (11) led the Trojans (12-13, 8-7) to a FVC win. Marcus Lazar had 6 points for Hampshire (5-22, 1-14).
