Des Plaines hosting opioid panel presentation

Des Plaines city officials and health care professionals are hosting an expert panel presentation about symptoms and solutions to the opioid crisis.

The panel will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Frisbie Senior Center, 52 E. Northwest Hwy., Des Plaines.

The panel includes Police Chief Bill Kushner, Fire Chief Alan Wax, Patricia Astrene of Northshore University Health System, and Mary Jo Kaminsky and Lynn Kite of Keys to Recover.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 115 people in the U.S. die every day from an opioid overdose.
