Baseball: Harvest, Kaneland notch blowout wins

Harvest Christian 11, Schaumburg Christian 1: Matt Ellet started things off for Harvest Christian (14-2) with a 2-run home run in the first inning. Ellet was also the winning pitcher, allowing just a single hit and striking out six.

Kaneland 24, DeKalb 3: The Knights (17-7) scored 12 sixth-inning runs on top of the 12 they already had in this conference win. Joe Born, Mikey Rogers, Thomas Shaw, and Bryce Stair each racked up multiple hits for Kaneland, led by a 3-for-3 day from Born. Winning pitcher Angel Acevedo went 5 innings, allowed 3 runs on 4 hits, struck out nine and walked one.

Burlington Central 13, Woodstock North 0: The Rockets were propelled by an 8-run fourth inning in which Cody Carlson, Andrew Knowlton, Jake Jarvis, Braden Seyller and Colton Wallace drove in runs. Winning pitcher Zak Zuiker did not allow a hit or run over 4 innings and struck out eight in a Kishwaukee River win for Central (11-8, 8-1).

Elgin Academy 8, Forreston 3: Reece Zonts hit for the cycle to lead Elgin Academy (13-4). Zonts doubled in the first, tripled in the second, homered in the fourth, and singled in the sixth. Ethan Hill got the win for the Hilltoppers, lasting 5 innings, allowing 4 hits and 3 runs while striking out seven.

ACC 19, Guerin Prep 2: The Chargers knocked in 11 runs in the third inning of a 19-2 Metro Suburban crossover win. Ryan Lee, Danny Kuttner, and Max Ariano singled, Jeff Albert and Corey Nilo walked and Alex Rakas homered for ACC (16-8). Winning pitcher CJ Cazares held Guerin to 2 runs on 3 hits over 2 innings and struck out three.

Bartlett 10, Conant 4: Winning pitcher Nick Kantzavelos allowed 4 earned runs on 6 hits and a walk and notched a strikeout in 4⅔ innings. The Hawks collected 9 hits. Matthew Angelone, Kevin Vesta, and Max Lewis enjoyed multihit games for Bartlett (7-7-1), led by Angelone (3-for-4).

Aurora Christian 3, Riverside-Brookfield 0: Sam Tickel and Trey Madsen each had 2 hits for Aurora Christian (10-5-1). Jake Kuntzendorf held the Bulldogs scoreless on one hit over six innings with 9 strikeouts and a walk.

Ridgewood 4, St. Edward 3: Mikey Lopez and Joe Sacco drove in seventh-inning runs but the rally fell short in the Metro Suburban Blue. Drew Tilche suffered the loss for St. Edward (10-11, 4-5) after pitching 4⅓ innings, allowing a run on 2 hits, striking out three and walking one.

Huntley 11, Jacobs 0: A 13-hit barrage was led by multihit games from Evan Tocmo, Jackson Broom, Michael Talesky, AJ Henkle, and Zach Model. Jimmy Fairley pitched 4 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts in a Fox Valley Conference win for Huntley (18-4, 11-3). Shayne McCullough took the loss for Jacobs (8-13, 3-8).

Loyola Academy 14, Marmion 0: The Cadets (4-9) struggled to generate offense and could not stop the hot bats of Loyola Academy. Will Dietz took the loss for Marmion Varsity, surrendering 8 runs on 3 hits over 2 innings.

Prairie Ridge 15, Hampshire 3: The Whip-Purs (13-7) were on the wrong end of a 10-run fourth inning. Logan Nespor took the loss for Hampshire.
