Help raise $400,000 for local seniors

As a local health care provider for 30 years I have often depended on Senior Services, the Ecker Center and other social service providers to help support my clients. The reduction in state and federal reimbursement for these entities is causing shortages in key services.

Most townships collect and distribute funds to help support their own. A Tuesday referendum would do the same in our township and generate a modest but badly needed $400,000 to support these services for seniors including transportation, meals, counseling, tax preparation, abuse investigations, and more.

Many of these currently underfunded services help seniors overcome social isolation. It is my understanding that all of these funds will go to local nonprofit entities and will be administrated by Elgin Township officials.
