Bensenville police on Wednesday released the identity of a man who died Friday in the Redmond Reservoir.
The deceased is Ernesto Velazquez, 30, of Hanover Park.
Velazquez died of pulmonary congestion consistent with drowning, according to police.
He slipped into the pond around 3:07 p.m., Bensenville Police Chief Dan Schulze said Friday. The body was recovered about 20 to 30 feet from the shore.
The stormwater retention pond is in the Redmond Recreational Center, a village park at 545 John St.
