Fans tour new Impact Field in Rosemont, home of the Chicago Dogs
Fans got their first look at Impact Field in Rosemont during a public open house Saturday at the park, 9850 Balmoral Ave.
The Chicago Dogs, the newest team in the American Association's independent baseball league, will host their home opener in the $60 million stadium on May 25. The stadium seats 6,300 people.
"We're very proud of Impact Field," said Chicago Dogs owner Shawn Hunter. "We think it's one of the nicest fields in all of baseball, both major and minor league.
"Today's the first chance for fans to take a peek behind the curtain, come out and play catch on the field, take tours, and meet some of the players and get autographs."
Hunter said notable features of the ballpark include the 360-degree concourse, which will allow fans to walk around the stadium during the game, the six party decks and picnic areas. He said all 6,300 seats are close to the field.
Doug Silk of Schaumburg, who was with his sons Nolan, 10, and Nathan, 11, said they enjoyed having the opportunity to play catch on the field of a professional baseball stadium.
