How is he helping?

Re: "On patriotism and sporting events" in today's paper, I think the questions asked in the concluding paragraphs are worthy of an in depth study. What else has Kaepernick done (other than "taking a knee" during the national anthem) to further "his cause"? Or, what is he going to do? He has a lot of money (thanks to American pro football fans, of which I am not one) that he could spend/donate to right the wrongs he perceives.
