Huntley, Cary-Grove earn share of FVC 4-way title
Huntley and Cary-Grove each won their respective girls basketball games Friday night, earning a share - along with Dundee-Crown and Hampshire - of the Fox Valley Conference championship.
Huntley 39, Prairie Ridge 29: The Red Raiders (16-12, 11-5) won their fourth straight FVC title behind 15 points from Morgan Clausen and 10 from Jackie Dorin.
Cary-Grove 49, CL South 39: Becca Kendeigh scored 16 points and Maddie Gorz had 13 to lead the Trojans (16-11, 11-5) to their first FVC title since 2013. Katie Sowa added 11 points for the winners. Annika Sevcick had 20 points and Taylor Jozefowicz 9 for Crystal Lake South (13-14, 8-8).
St. Charles North 63, Streamwood 33: Sami Sample had 17 points and Jaz Harmon 15 for the North Stars (18-9, 8-4) in their Upstate Eight River win. Maddi Exline had 10 points and Becky Roncone 9 for Streamwood (13-13, 5-7).
South Elgin 65, West Chicago 44: Emmy McIntosh led a balanced South Elgin attack with 13 points in this Upstate Eight Valley win. Grace Franks and Teagan Pompa had 12 points each for the division champion Storm (20-7, 9-1) while Mackie Kelleher had 11. It was South Elgin's 10th straight win.
West Aurora 46, Bartlett 27: Dajour Miles had 10 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals for West Aurora (14-12, 7-3) in the Blackhawks' UEC Valley win. Keva Thomas had 9 points and Kayla Battle 10 rebounds for West Aurora. Bartlett fell to 12-17, 6-4.
