Many reasons for disliking this president

Why do so many Americans dislike Mr. Trump?

For starters, the official tally of false or misleading statements from this president is well north of 15,000. Americans should not tolerate being lied to every single day. This alone should disqualify him for high office.

No president has ever been in such direct conflict with his own government. He doesn't just disagree with experts; he denies their expertise, undermining their credibility. He has done battle with the intelligence community, FBI, DOJ, DOD, the Fed, EPA, NOAA(!) and most recently, the CDC.

He has actively worked to weaken and dismantle many government agencies by stripping their budgets or installing unqualified individuals or industry lobbyists to fill top positions. He has presided over the single largest brain drain of smart, capable and dedicated professionals, crippling our government.

There is a reason you haven't seen his taxes; he cannot allow anyone to learn where the millions came from that allowed him to continue to operate even after bankrupting multiple companies. It defies explanation and it points directly to Russia. While most politicians seek to avoid potential conflicts of interest, Trump has refused and continues to find ways to steer government money to his companies.

Our government institutions are weakened, relations with trading partners and allies will take a concentrated effort to rebuild and Americans are fighting with each other in a way I have not experienced in my lifetime. Any one of these reasons would be sufficient for an American not to like their president.

We are however fortunate that Mr. Trump is as divisive and flawed as he is. Someone with less baggage and more "charm" could inflict even greater harm on our democracy. Let's not let that happen again.
