Palatine chamber announces yearly award recipients

The Palatine Area Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of its yearly awards at its annual dinner, which took place virtually earlier this month.

The winners were: Akash Veeravalli, who got the Rising Star award for community service under 18 years of age; James Parker and Cathie Johnson, community volunteerism; Roberta Sullivan, chamber volunteerism; Julie Selof, business leader; Elderwerks, community organization; Illinois Spinal Care, new business of the year; Leader Automotive, large business of the year; and Chicago Culinary Kitchen, small business of the year.

There were also special awards: the Chamber Alumni Remembrance went to Gale Cohen DeMarco; the Above and Beyond award went to Larry Moats of Moats Office Properties; and the Lifetime Community Service award went to Wally and Janet Degner.
