Naperville's Calvary Church to distribute 750 backpacks to community Aug. 13

Calvary Church of Naperville is giving out 750 backpacks to families in need during their back-to-school community outreach on Saturday, Aug. 13.

The event will occur from noon to 2 p.m. It includes a backpack giveaway (one per student), a free carwash, and a food pantry offering snacks and groceries geared toward school lunches.

They will also offer an area for prayer for those who wish to participate.

This drive-through event will be held in the church's east parking lot alongside Route 59. It is open to anyone in need.

This is Calvary's second annual Back-to-School Weekend.

The food distribution is held in partnership with Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry. Food is first come, first served.

As part of their back-to-school weekend, the church is also planning Sunday services at 9 and 11 a.m. that feature a prayer of blessing for students and school faculty before they start the school year.

All school faculty in attendance are invited to a reception after each service that will include hors d'oeuvres, school supplies, and a gift bag.

Anyone from the community is invited to participate in this opportunity.
